My biggest problem in becoming self-employed was me. I needed to learn quickly that I had to think like an entrepreneur. I had to study how successful entrepreneurs changed their entrepreneurial thinking.
Think Like an Entrepreneur
I had to start acting like a self-employed individual in order to BE one. My mindset needed to be an entrepreneurial mindset. I reverted to my old nine-to-five mindset. If I wasn’t completing an activity every hour, then I was probably slacking off. I needed to master that entrepreneur mindset.
Sometimes a self-employed person has to make decisions regarding their company. They might simply be considering a solution to an issue. You just have to shut your brain down and let new ideas flow when you’re not typing away at the keyboard every minute. Just because you aren’t pounding away at the typewriter nonstop doesn’t imply you aren’t working
Entrepreneurial Thinking
I’ve also learned that it’s acceptable to not answer the phone every time it rings. That’s where voicemail and email come in, as well. I used to leave my email program open all day at work and answer each message as it came in. It took me a long time to figure out that it’s alright to just check email several
You’re probably going to have days where you feel like you didn’t accomplish much. However, you’ll have days when you believe you can conquer the globe and are shocked by how much you accomplished. Some days, while it may not appear as though you’ve completed many things, you will make an important decision or learn a valuable lesson about yourself. You must keep pushing that entrepreneurial spirit.
There are a couple of ways that I have adapted what I’m discussing here to my own life. The first was when I wrote down all the various tasks that needed doing and their associated expenses in order for me to go about my business and do things in life well.
Instead of focusing on what assets I lack, I recognized that the benefit of my business is that it’s solely accountable to me. Like other successful people, I had to take ownership. I was forced to stay focused. Everything I do will eventually benefit me. Instead of depending on someone else’s budget, I may achieve as far as I desire because others’ opinions drown out the good news that you are your own boss.
I’m now much happier and more content since I’m doing what I truly like rather than what someone else tells me to do. I discovered that if you think like an entrepreneur, you’ll become one.
